In release 9, Oracle added ‘Price Books’ aka ‘Price Lists’ to Oracle Sales Cloud.

This price book functionality is an alternative to the sophisticated pricing models in CPQ tools like Oracle CPQ Cloud.

There are 2 new objects, one for the price book header where we can define a price list name, status, … And a second object for price book lines, where we can choose products and specify a price for them.

These objects are extendable e.g. I added the account name to the price list header as shown in the example below, that account name is a custom field. But we could also add start and end dates or other fields that would make sense.

How these price books actually are used (e.g. the screenshot below) is extremely flexible and relies on the scripting capabilities of the Sales Cloud App Composer:

  • you can, but do not have to, add a price list field on the opportunity header like in the screenshot below, but you could also add like I did in the screenshot above add a price list
  • you can implement fields like ‘Discount(%)’ or not, and take this into account when calculating prices … or not

So, is Price Book a standard functionality or something to be configured/scripted? From your article it seems like the latter. Can you please provide more details as to how to implement Price Book in Oracle Sales Cloud?

Bianca, it is a bit of both. Setting up price books is standard functionality. How they are used when creating opportunities is something that need to be configured/scripted.

How can i implement the price book in UI?

All you need to do is provide access through the security console to those users who need access to it, add price books to the menu and implement it the way you need it as it can be used to have customer specific price lists, generic default price lists, opportunity specific price lists, …
