Once you start building a lot of reports, or you work in a team and need somehow to find a way to make sure everyone is using the same filter in all the different reports, you might want to check out this feature of the Oracle BI Suite: Reusable Filters
This has some MAJOR advantages:
- all users developing report use the same standardized filters
- when changing filters, just change the shared filter centrally and no need to go edit every report in order to implement the change to the filter
