R19 has brought a few little App Composer changes that although little, can actually turn screens upside down. As they can have a big impact on User Experience, I think they deserve a little introduction right?

These are 3 small changes with big consequences:

  1. Change layout title
  2. Change default subtab
  3. Change top subtab

1) Change layout title

Page layout titles are the bit of text with the largest font on the screen and hence the first thing a user will see on a screen. From now on you can change how the titles are being defined.

E.g. by default the titles on the opportunity detail page includes the opportunity name, but you can now change it to the opportunity number if that would make more sense for users

2) Change default subtab

Until now, the top subtab on any page was always the default subtab to open when drilling down into a detail page e.g. the overview subtab always has been the default subtab to open when drilling into an account.

From now on, changing the default subtab to a custom default subtab or another out-of-the-box subtab is only a few clicks away

3) Change top subtab

And when changing the default subtab, why not put it all the way to the top like on all other pages. You now actually can turn screens upside down by reversing completely the order of subtabs 😉
