It has been a while since I blogged, but I am back, and I have a lot to share. I wanted to start with something that changed in the Outlook365 plugin (for the better) in the latest update.

Until now, when you wanted to share an email with CX Sales, all you had to do was click the ‘Share Item’ button, choose the account, lead, or opportunity you wanted to link it to, check whether or not to include the attachment and click ‘Share’

Could not be easier and user friendly ….

O365 Simple Share

… but sometimes this simple and very elegant sharing of emails as activities is not enough. That is where the new Advanced Share comes in.

Advanced Share

Sometimes the activity object is implemented in such that a simple share is “simply” not possible. Just add a non-defaulted mandatory field to the activity object and the simple share would no longer work. Or imagine that you want also to fill in some additional fields that are not visible on the simple share screen.

The advanced share allows you to extend that user experience and make it as sophisticated as you want.

Advanced Share Setup

All you need to do to switch from simple to advanced and back is:

  • Log in as an administrator
  • Create a sandbox and add the Application Composer as a sandbox tool
  • Open the Outlook 365 designer by choosing ‘Productivity Tools Setup’ in App Composer
  • Under ‘Side Panel’, choose ‘RelatedObjLayout’
  • Here you can toggle between simple and advanced sharing mode
  • Publish the Sandbox … and done!

Additionally, you need to log out and log into the Outlook365 plugin for your changes to appear.

Have fun !
